Denneoord Primary gives every boy the opportunity to play cricket. The coaches have all the knowledge, skills and experience to provide the players the chance to excel in the game. Denneoord has five teams, namely: u/7, u/8, u/9, u/11 and u/13. The u/7 to u/9 teams plays in the mini-cricket league, where they still use the soft ball. The u/11 and u/13 teams also participate in a league, where the hard ball and protection are used.
The u/12 and u/13 players also get the opportunity to participate in the SWD trials. The coaches always work very hard because as we all know; cricket is not the easiest sport to play. The main aim of the Dennie-coaches is of course to achieve enjoyment and let the “gentleman’s game” live forever.
Cricket at Denneoord 2017
When the game is fun and spirits are high, when you hit a 6 or catch a ball off the bat… What a thrill!
The game is alive with excitement and anxiety. ..that’s when the learners live out their dreams and become aware of their potential. The game becomes an exciting ride that they can’t wait to repeat.
The experience is contagious.
If we can develop this love for the game, we are developing players of good character, who will be honest, good sportsmen and believe in fair play. They will accept authority, as umpires need to be respected and obeyed on the field, due to the laws of cricket. They will learn to work as a team and be responsible for their actions and rely on their teammates to behave responsibly.
Who could ask for better values in sport? Here at Denneoord , we believe in these values and encourage all our boys to participate and encourage them to new heights.
